The Hernia Ultrasound Scan (Men) is a focused, real-time imaging test used to assess the abdominal wall and groin region for the presence of a hernia. It is a non-invasive scan commonly used to investigate groin pain, swelling, a visible or palpable lump, or discomfort that worsens with movement or straining.
This scan is particularly helpful for identifying inguinal and other abdominal wall hernias, assessing their size and contents, and supporting accurate diagnosis when physical examination findings are unclear. Dynamic imaging allows assessment during movement or strain.

You will be positioned comfortably with the shoulder exposed
Ultrasound gel is applied to the skin
A handheld probe is moved over the shoulder to capture live images
The procedure is painless and typically takes 15–20 minutes
At Home (Home Visit):
A clinician visits your home with portable ultrasound equipment
The scan is performed in the same way as in clinic, offering added convenience
