Peripheral Arterial Doppler + ABPI Scan
ABOUT THIS TEST
The Peripheral Arterial Doppler + ABPI Scan is a non-invasive vascular assessment used to evaluate blood flow in the arteries of the limbs and measure the Ankle–Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI). This combined test provides detailed information about arterial circulation and helps identify peripheral arterial disease (PAD).
This scan is particularly helpful for assessing reduced blood flow, leg pain on walking (claudication), slow-healing wounds, or circulation issues related to diabetes or cardiovascular disease. The ABPI measurement adds valuable insight into the severity of arterial narrowing.
Suitable for individuals with symptoms of poor circulation, diabetes, cardiovascular risk factors, non-healing ulcers, or for vascular health assessment.

FAQs
1. How can this Scan help me ?
Assess circulation to the limbs
Detect peripheral arterial disease and its severity
Support investigation of leg pain, ulcers, or poor wound healing
Guide treatment planning and referral if required
Provide reassurance where circulation is normal
It is suitable for individuals with suspected or known circulation issues affecting the limbs.
2. How is the scan performed?
You will be positioned comfortably on the examination couch
Ultrasound gel is applied to the abdomen and scrotal area
A handheld probe is moved gently over each area to capture live images
The procedure is painless and typically takes 25–35 minutes
At Home (Home Visit):
A clinician visits your home with portable ultrasound equipment
The scan is performed in the same way as in clinic, offering added convenience
